This proposal is for Travis County Tax Office & Travis County Development Authority to develop 3 acres of their own land centers that provides a new office operations facility as well as low-income affordable housing and public-facing amenities, including restaurant and retail, at ground level. The massing of the building steps up dramatically towards the Airport Boulevard transit corridor, while respecting the residential scale of the neighborhood with smaller townhome units and a public park facing the neighborhood. This mixture of uses on site all share a communal courtyard which Travis County employees and neighborhood residents alike may enjoy throughout the day, and which also may be secured as necessary when businesses are not operating. The project proposes to bury 2 levels of parking below-grade to ensure that the ground plane is accessible and pedestrian-friendly, while secured access to the Travis County Offices back-of-house is provided to employees from the garage. Bright colors and elevated walkways provide a vibrant dynamic and secure experience for the building residents.
